Would Be Nice Though is a performed attempt to get a job. Devised during the financial recession, this site-specific show set in an office depicts an all-too-familiar recruitment process which challenges our self-worth. Creating a bizarre ‘job interview’ scenario, this surreal and imaginative event – a hit on the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe – offers an alternative view of a subject that resonates with anyone who has ever had a job interview.
Holly Bodmer and Dot Howard are cross-genre artists with a passion for devising unconventional performance. Based in Norwich, they share an interest in observational, sometimes humorous performance for intimate audiences in unusual spaces.
“Dear Holly Bodmer,
We are in the process of cutting up to 34 jobs in Editorial. There are no vacancies for anything I’m afraid.
Best wishes, Keith.”
