Pathways, routes and trails: a walking and listening experience
We are the city. Our journeys through it give it movement and life, each part of it is given
meaning because we inhabit it. Our relationships and interactions with people around us
are its heart, its emotions: multifaceted and schizophrenic. The connections made
between each of us in the city every day give its streets, cathedrals, parks and cafes
ENCOUNTER invites individual audience members to consider how they fit into the life of
the city by taking an invigorating hike through its streets while listening to, on their ipod/
smartphone/mp3 player, specially commissioned audio plays.
The plays will be premiered from 9th March when we will be at the theatre with flasks of hot
tea and biscuits greeting walkers as they return or setting them out on their way.
Like any hike or solitary journey CITY is a contemplative walk that challenges us to spend
time alone and find our own sense of belonging to the city.
